PITTSBURGH (AP) — Josh Scobee couldn’t. Twice.
Justin Tucker could. Twice.
The big-legged Baltimore kicker hit a 42-yard field goal to tie the Pittsburgh Steelers within the final seconds of regulation making a 52-yarder with 5:08 left in overtime to supply the Ravens a 23-20 victory Thursday night.
Scobee had two chances to present the Steelers some cushion late within the fourth quarter just to pull both kicks wide left. The second miss gave the Ravens (1-3) plenty of time to put Scobee well within range to deliver the game in an extra period.
Pittsburgh then twice opted to choose it on fourth down in Baltimore territory in overtime in lieu of send Scobee out for some time attempt into your tricky wind with the open end of Heinz Field. Michael Vick, starting in preference to injured Ben Roethlisberger, was stopped on fourth-and-2 on the 39 and then overthrew Antonio Brown on fourth-and-1 on the 33.
Neither Vick or Scobee would receive a third shot. Joe Flacco led the Ravens towards the 35 and Tucker’s winner was not ever in doubt.
Justin Forsett ran for 150 yards to the Ravens. Flacco threw a touchdown pass and did adequate late that can help Baltimore end the worst come from franchise history.
Vick threw for 124 yards plus a score and Le’Veon Bell ran for 129 yards along with a touchdown because of the Steelers (2-2) bumbled late.
For almost all of the night, it appeared Pittsburgh would survive with Roethlisberger relegated to your sweatsuit after spraining his left knee the other day against St. Louis.
