The Latest: Peyton Manning completes 6,000th pass

The Latest from NFL stadiums across the country about the third Sunday of the year (all times EDT):

10:45 p.m.

Another milestone for Manning.

Peyton Manning is the second player to perform 6,000 passes within the NFL. Manning reached the objective with a 5-yard pass to Jordan Norwood inside third quarter Sunday night. Manning's Denver Broncos led Detroit 14-12 at that time.

Only Brett Favre (6,300) has more completions than Manning, who reached the 6,000 mark together with his 23rd completion Sunday.

Matthew Stafford, Detroit's quarterback, isn't having quite as good an evening. He actually caught his very own pass inside the third quarter for any loss of 6 following your ball bounced to him from your line of scrimmage.

10:30 p.m.

When reaching for any first down goes horribly wrong.

Denver's Demaryius Thomas aimed to stretch the ball forward while being dragged down by Detroit's Rashean Mathis inside third quarter Sunday night. But as Thomas was allowing this to continue on top of Mathis, the ball came loose and sailed about 10 yards back toward Denver's own end zone.

Quandre Diggs picked up for the Lions and removed toward the tip zone, but Thomas was ruled down by contact. That ruling was overturned by replay, giving Detroit the ball in the Denver 29.

Detroit eventually scored over a 16-yard touchdown pass from Matthew Stafford to Ameer Abdullah. A 2-point conversion was stopped, and Denver still led 14-12.

Broncos running back C.J. Anderson passed a concussion test from a crunching hit by Detroit's Darryl Tapp inside the first half.

9:10 p.m.

Denver running back C.J. Anderson walked on the locker room following a crunching hit by Detroit's Darryl Tapp for the final play on the first quarter Sunday night. Anderson was being evaluated for any concussion.

Anderson was met about the line of scrimmage by Tapp, and also the running back remained down around the field to get a bit before walking off.

Detroit's Matthew Stafford, meanwhile, was under more pressure early after being knocked around last weekend at Minnesota. Stafford, who was for the injury report with rib issues the 2009 week, was sacked by DeMarcus Ware on Detroit's second offensive play, and again around the Lions' second series.

Then Ware forced Stafford to toss the ball away and sent him to the floor for good measure.

The game was scoreless after 1 / 4.

Well, it is getting ugly. Or, really, it has been ugly for any while now.

Cumulative score of Sunday's three late games: Winners: 107, Losers 15. And there's still time left inside the fourth quarter of the three games.

In Miami, Ryan Tannehill has received his team-record string of 160 pass attempts lacking interception ended by Rex Ryan's Buffalo defense. The Dolphins trail 34-8.

In Seattle, the Bears are now being blanked 26-0 by Seattle.

And in Arizona, the Cardinals lead the 49ers 47-7. Colin Kaepernick has thrown four interceptions, 2 of which are already returned for touchdowns.

Not much suspense left - aside from all the fantasy players.

6:15 p.m.

Marshawn Lynch's day is done for that Seattle Seahawks after he suffered a hamstring injury.

Lynch was ruled out early within the second half up against the Bears.

It capped a bizarre day for Lynch, who remained inside the Seattle locker room through pregame warmups and didn't come out to your sideline prior to the 7:40 mark with the first quarter. He finished just 14 yards rushing on five carries.

Lynch caught a 9-yard pass from Russell Wilson on fourth-and-1 from the final minute with the first half but wasn't in for the last four offensive plays from the second quarter.

He was questionable getting into the game having a calf injury that kept him outside of practice a pair of three days soon. Fred Jackson replaced him.

6:05 p.m.

A bad day just keeps getting worse for Colin Kaepernick.

The San Francisco quarterback's first pass in the first half and first from the second half were intercepted by Arizona. And he has thrown two more picks among.

The four interceptions - in 10 throws - certainly are a career worst for Kaepernick.

Justin Bethel returned Kaepernick's first pass 21 yards with an Arizona touchdown. Moments later, Tyrann Mathieu returned one 33 yards for just a score.

Mathieu also had an interception to put together a field goal to finish the first half. Arizona scored 24 points off Kaepernick's interceptions.

The Cardinals lead 38-7 from the third quarter.

Cam Newton is certainly one unhappy Panther.

The Carolina quarterback expressed frustration of what he felt would have been a borderline late hit by Saints defensive tackle Tyeler Davison - but more baffled through the explanation he received from referee Ed Hochuli during Sunday's 27-22 make an impression on the New Orleans Saints.

Newton awoke from looking for just a flag and turned toward Hochuli.

"The response that I got was, 'Cam you just aren't old enough for getting that call,'" Newton said. "I'm considering him like, 'What? Geez, I didn't think you possessed to have seniority to obtain a personal foul or anything prefer that.'"

Newton stated it is frustrating when other quarterbacks get similar calls to search their way.

"I'm ticked off, really," Newton said, then added, "Heaven forbid he gets any rookies - they're going to get a long day, man."

Hochuli had apparently left the stadium before Newton's postgame comments.

It's early, but former Miami Dolphins tight end Charles Clay figured why wait.

Clay wasted bit of time in trying to repay his former team.

He had 3 catches for 58 yards, including 25 with a scoring reception that gave the Buffalo Bills a 7-0 lead with 11:49 left from the first quarter.

Clay signed using the Bills as being a free agent after four seasons in Miami.

Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor was 5-of-5 for 77 yards about the drive that took 2:17.

The McCown brothers started around the same day to the first time since 2007 - plus the result was exactly the same.

Both lost again.

Luke McCown began in place on the injured Drew Brees and completed 31 of 38 passes for 310 yards nonetheless it wasn't enough just to save the Saints, who lost to Carolina 27-22.

The Saints fell three games behind the division leading Panthers and Atlanta Falcons within the NFC South.

Josh McCown completed 28 of 49 passes for 341 yards with two TDs and something interception in Cleveland's 27-20 loss to your Oakland Raiders.

The first and fourth passes by 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick went additional way for touchdowns.

The Patriots reached several milestones like their rout with the Jaguars.

Just check a variety of them off:

- Tom Brady threw his 400th career touchdown.

- New England compounded 35 first downs in developing a 51-10 lead over Jacksonville. That ties a franchise record set against Denver on Oct. 7, 2012.

- Kicker Stephen Gostkowski set the NFL record for consecutive extra points.

Gostkowski was 6-for-6 on PATs and it has made 425 back to back. He broke the record set by Matt Stover from 1996 until he retired during 2009.

Gostkowski has led the NFL in scoring in each from the last three seasons.

The old man can certainly still run a little.

Vikings linebacker Chad Greenway picked off a pass from Philip Rivers and returned it 91 yards for the touchdown to offer Minnesota a 31-7 lead early within the fourth quarter.

The 32-year-old Greenway's snaps with his fantastic salary have already been cut significantly from the last 2 yrs. But he made the play in the day in Minneapolis when he grabbed a deflection off Stevie Johnson's hands and raced back the sideline.

A domino effect happened behind him if your side judge trailing the play ran into Vikings defensive backs coach Jerry Gray, who then bowled over head coach Mike Zimmer.

It was the other career touchdown for Greenway.

Beast Mode is scheduled to go to the Seattle Seahawks home opener.

Marshawn Lynch was active and supposed to start with the Seahawks after sitting out 2 days of practice this week which has a calf injury. One day rest during the week is typical for Lynch, but he would be a limited participant on Thursday and sat out Friday's practice. He was listed as questionable within the injury report.

Lynch has missed one game since joining the Seahawks throughout the 2010 season. He became a late scratch before a 2011 game against Cleveland.

Ben Roethlisberger is otherwise engaged and Michael Vick has replaced him.

Roethlisberger was carted off after injuring his left knee over a sack from the third quarter from the Rams as well as the Steelers say he'll no return.

Pittsburgh has considering the ball to Vick, who made his first appearance of year late from the third. He completed a shorter pass on third down ahead of the Steelers punted.

Titans rookie quarterback Marcus Mariota tied the NFL record for the majority of touchdown passes through his first three games.

Mariota's 3-yard TD toss to Dorial Green-Beckham within the third quarter against Indianapolis was his eighth in 2010, tying Mark Rypien's record emerge 1988 with Washington. Mariota had six TD passes inside first two games. He linked to Kendall Wright using a 7-yard TD pass late inside second quarter.

Meanwhile, Colts quarterback Andrew Luck set a fresh low Sunday with eight pass attempts, the fewest of his career in almost any half. Luck had thrown 12 passes within a half twice before within his career, in accordance with STATS LLC.

Vikings cornerback Xavier Rhodes left the experience against San Diego as a result of head injury from a scary collision with teammate Andrew Sendejo.

Rhodes was hurt late within the second quarter with a touchdown catch by Keenan Allen, who has been open between Rhodes and Sendejo near to the left sideline for any 34-yard gain.

Rhodes stretched out to corral Allen, when Sendejo approached on the side and inadvertently smacked into Rhodes' face along with his chest, bending Rhodes' neck backward. Rhodes fell to your turf, motionless for just a few moments, before slowly standing up and being helped off the area.

The Vikings announced Rhodes as questionable to go back. He was replaced inside third quarter by rookie Trae Waynes.

New England quarterback Tom Brady has thrown his 400th career touchdown pass, hitting Danny Amendola over a 1-yard pass ahead of halftime with the Patriots game against Jacksonville.

Brady joins Peyton Manning (533 entering Sunday), Brett Favre (508) and Dan Marino (420) because only quarterbacks in NFL history to succeed in the milestone.

It didn't require much time for Browns fans to scream for Johnny Manziel.

With Cleveland's offense sputtering inside first half against Oakland, starter Josh McCown overthrew tight end Gary Barnidge, prompting Bowns fans to start out chanting "John-ny! John-ny!" Manziel started for the injured McCown a couple weeks ago and led the Browns into a 28-14 enlighten Tennessee.

Meanwhile, Luke McCown continues to be solid from the early going managing the Saints offense, completing 14 of his first 15 passes for 100 yards. McCown, filling in for your injured Drew Brees, has relied mostly short check down passes to relocate the chains.

Adrian Peterson has become back for three weeks now. But now you can say he's officially back.

Peterson plowed into the conclusion zone using a 3-yard run from the San Diego Chargers within the second quarter on Sunday to provide the Minnesota Vikings a 10-0 lead. It was his first touchdown since Nov. 24, 2013 at Green Bay.

Peterson missed basically one game recently while addressing child abuse charges in Texas.

Marcus Mariota finally continues to be intercepted within the NFL, and it had been returned for any touchdown.

Mariota hit tight end Delanie Walker only to obtain the pass go off of the veteran's hands and straight away to Colts safety Dwight Lowery who returned the interception 69 yards for that touchdown. That gave the winless Colts a 14-0 lead early inside the second quarter from the Tennessee Titans. The Colts have won seven straight and 12 with the last 13 with this series between AFC South rivals.

The rookie quarterback started in leading the NFL having a 129.9 passer rating with six touchdown passes in his initial two games.

The Dallas running game is finally moving without DeMarco Murray.

On your day Murray was inactive in Philadelphia having a hamstring injury, Joseph Randle had runs of 28 and 37 yards - the latter for just a touchdown - about the Cowboys' first series against Atlanta. Those were the sole two plays by using an 80-yard drive that included a 15-yard facemask penalty against Falcons cornerback Robert Alford.

The Cowboys struggled using a 3.4-yard-per-carry average inside the first two weeks without Murray, a year ago's NFL rushing champion.

The Steelers-Rams game has delayed after having a corner with the field caught fire.

Yes, which is correct.

A corner with the field in caught fire through the Rams pre-game pyrotechnics show while introducing the starters.

The fire was quickly created but both teams have left area of as crews cleaning things up, including removing fire extinguisher residue.

The game did get underway as soon as the delay.

The McCown brothers are generally starting around the same day for your first time since 2007.

And Josh and Luke McCown are hoping for just a different outcome these times: Each quarterback lost their respective games eight a long time ago.

This may be the sixth time the McCowns - Luke is 36, 24 months older than his younger sibling - have started about the same day. Only once dermatologist both won on that day.

Peyton and Eli Manning are really the only other brother combination to pull off of the feat.

Josh McCown starts for Cleveland after returning from the concussion sustained for the season's opening drive. Luke McCown contains the nod for New Orleans with Drew Brees out rehabbing a shoulder injury.

DeMarco Murray can be a no-go for that Philadelphia Eagles.

The star running back was inactive for that Eagles' game resistant to the New York Jets on Sunday that has a strained hamstring. Murray, who had previously been listed as questionable, has struggled through two games with just 11 yards on 21 carries.

Ryan Mathews will begin in Murray's place. Mathews has 4 yards on four carries in limited action.

Jets wide receiver Eric Decker can be inactive which has a sprained left knee. Rookie Devin Smith, the team's second-round draft pick outside of Ohio State, is making his NFL debut as Decker's replacement. Smith broke some ribs and punctured a lung while creating a catch at the start of training camp.

Quarterback Geno Smith is usually active to the first time this holiday season after having his jaw broken using a punch from then-teammate Ikemefuna Enemkpali on Aug. 11.
