Carlos de Pena has become waiting for his chance |
Adam Clayton is relishing seeing Carlos de Pena doing his thing.
Boss Aitor Karanka has hinted the Uruguayan new boy, a £2.6m deadline day signing from Nacional, may make his debut within the Capital One Cup clash with Wolves.
And midfield enforcer Clayton says Boro fans could possibly be in for a treat from your highly rated left winger.
“Carlos is fantastic in training, ” said Clayton.
“He’s very technically gifted, he’s got good feet, a rapid brain, he’s an exceptionally tidy player and everything he does on your golf ball is nice and crisp.
“I have in mind the gaffer has watched him play a lot more than I have and the man rates him very highly.
“I haven’t seen him in working order but in training he could be very sharp, a single or two touch player who makes the unexpected happens and once he’s in control and playing then well see what he'll do.
“I’m sure the fans is certain to get to see him soon. I’m sure he’ll grace the pitch soon and also the fans will discover what he’s about,”

And he admits that, we've only just seen the newest team begin to emerge.
Boro a sticky start but have finally won five games back to back.
“And we haven’t seen best of this team yet,” said Clayton.
“The gaffer has signed and this players and he’s got a lot of many options now, especially in advance.
“If we could keep them all happy inside rotation and make going the best way we are, then don’t think well have too much trouble creating chances and scoring goals.
“I don’t think we’re fully at 100%, We’re not at full tilt right now but we have been getting there.
“We’ve a really good get started with just the one disappointment against Bristol City and all sorts of the players increasingly becoming used to 1 another so it's promising for that season ahead.”
