GAME NOTES

• Coach Jeff Blashill will probably be making his debut behind the Red Wings bench after working the last three seasons coaching the Grand Rapids Griffins. Blashill led the Griffins towards the 2013 AHL championship and would have been a Red Wings assistant coach in 2011-12.

• Jimmy Howard will become in goal with the Red Wings tonight and Tom McCollum provides as his backup.

• Blashill is putting some of his  young guns together as Dylan Larkin will become the game over a line with Anthony Mantha and Teemu Pulkkinen while Andreas Athanasiou will center Tyler Bertuzzi and Evgeny Svechnikov.

• Many of the Red Wings veterans can get the night off. That includes Henrik Zetterberg, Johan Franzen, Justin Abdelkader, Mike Green and Brad Richards.
