Halftime analysis: Broncos 14, Lions 6

DETROIT -- Even when the Detroit Lions take a step right, they shoot themselves inside the foot.
Calvin Johnson snatched a interception out of the hands of Aqib Talib, a 25-yard pickup that ignited an 80-yard touchdown drive. It appeared Detroit concerned to pull despite having 1:07 left inside half.
But Matt Prater had his extra-point attempt blocked, then Peyton Manning installed with Demaryius Thomas for just a 45-yard touchdown with 5 seconds left. Just like that, Detroit trailed the Denver Broncos 14-6 in the home opener. Quite the turn of events.
The Lions always struggle offensively. Before that 80-yard drive, their longest from the day was 29 yards. And for the second week repeatedly, there's no pulse within the running game.
Detroit's tailbacks combine just for 13 yards on 10 carries.
At least the defense came, that's kept the Lions amongst people. That includes another interception from Glover Quin, his second from the season.
Quarterback Matthew Stafford took a knee to separate the half into a chorus of boos on which was meant to be a festive home opener on Sunday Night Football.
